Thorough Gym Equipment
Cleaning Service
Gym equipment is the most heavily touched — and most infection-prone — surface in any fitness facility. Every session, every member leaves behind bacteria, sweat, skin cells, and pathogens on treadmill handlebars, weight bench surfaces, dumbbell grips, cable machine handles, and cardio equipment controls. Without proper daily sanitisation using the right products and correct protocols, these surfaces become significant health risks for your members.
Golden Star's daily gym equipment cleaning service is purpose-built for fitness environments. Unlike general commercial cleaning companies that use the same products on a gym treadmill as they do on an office desk, our team uses TGA-approved, hospital-grade disinfectants that are specifically safe for rubber grips, chrome frames, powder-coated steel, vinyl upholstery, and LCD touchscreens. We clean to eliminate — not just to wipe.
"Studies have found gym equipment can harbour up to 362 times more bacteria than a toilet seat — regular, professional sanitisation isn't optional, it's essential to your duty of care as a gym operator."
Our teams work around your schedule — before your doors open, after the last member leaves, or during low-traffic windows throughout the day. Every clean is documented digitally and accessible by your management team in real time. We cover all Melbourne suburbs and service gyms ranging from small boutique studios to large commercial fitness centres with 200+ pieces of equipment.

Why Equipment
Hygiene Directly Affects
Your Gym's Success
The link between gym hygiene and member retention is now well-documented. A survey by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association found that cleanliness is the number one factor members cite when choosing whether to continue their gym membership. It outranks equipment quality, location, and price. Your cleaning standard is your competitive advantage — or your biggest vulnerability.
Beyond retention, there's a genuine health and legal dimension. Gym operators have a duty of care obligation to maintain safe facilities. Gym equipment has been shown to carry dangerous pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, E. coli, influenza A, norovirus, and rhinovirus. Without a consistent, professional sanitisation program, you expose your members and your business to unnecessary risk.

Elimination
Our 5-Step Equipment Cleaning Process
Every daily clean follows a strict, documented protocol — the same standard, every time, at every facility we service.
Our team arrives at your scheduled time, signs in using your access protocols, equips with TGA-approved products and microfibre materials, and receives their zone assignments for the session.
We work methodically through pre-assigned zones — cardio floor, free weights, cable area, functional training, and shared surfaces — ensuring 100% equipment coverage without interruption to your operations.
All high-touch surfaces receive a hospital-grade disinfectant spray with the required contact dwell time to achieve 99.9% pathogen elimination. A clean microfibre cloth is used per zone to prevent cross-contamination.
A team supervisor conducts a final walk-through inspection against a standardised checklist. Any missed or insufficiently cleaned surfaces are immediately re-treated before sign-off.
A timestamped digital completion report is generated and sent directly to your nominated manager. It documents zones cleaned, products used, time on site, and any facility observations from our team.

Learn MoreDaily Equipment Cleaning FAQs
Everything Melbourne gym operators ask us before getting started.
How often should gym equipment be professionally cleaned?
High-traffic gym equipment should receive a professional clean and sanitisation at minimum once per day. Equipment with very high touch-point frequency — treadmill handlebars, dumbbell grips, bench surfaces — should ideally be sanitised multiple times daily in busier facilities. Our team can discuss a frequency schedule suited to your member traffic during the free site assessment.
What products do you use on gym equipment?
All products are TGA-approved and hospital-grade, achieving 99.9% elimination of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Crucially, every product we use is specifically formulated to be safe for gym equipment surfaces — rubber grips, chrome frames, powder-coated steel, vinyl upholstery, and touchscreen consoles. Standard commercial cleaners can cloud screens, degrade rubber, and corrode metal over time. Our products will not.
Can you clean while the gym is still open?
Yes — and many of our clients prefer this. Our teams are trained to work unobtrusively around active members. We move through zones methodically and quietly without disrupting sessions. We can also schedule during low-traffic windows, between classes, before opening, or after closing — whatever fits your operational needs. The schedule is yours to define.
Do you provide proof of cleaning?
Yes. After every single clean, a timestamped digital completion report is automatically generated and sent to your nominated contact. It documents time on site, zones cleaned, products used, and any observations from our team. This is particularly useful for OH&S audits, council inspections, or simply for your own records and peace of mind.
How much does daily gym equipment cleaning cost?
Daily gym equipment cleaning starts from $200 per day for smaller facilities (up to 30 pieces of equipment). Mid-size gyms are typically $300–$450 per day, and large commercial facilities are quoted on a per-site basis after a free assessment. All pricing includes labour, TGA-approved products, and digital completion reports. Call 0484 042 336 for a free quote.
Are your staff trained specifically for gyms?
Yes — every team member undergoes Golden Star's in-house gym cleaning certification before working on any client site. This covers gym-specific hygiene science, correct product application dwell times, surface-safe techniques for different equipment materials, and our 5-step cleaning protocol. All staff hold current National Police Check clearances and the company carries full public liability insurance.
Do you service all Melbourne suburbs?
Yes — we service all Melbourne metropolitan suburbs including the CBD, inner suburbs, northern, eastern, southern, western, and south-eastern corridors. From South Yarra to Frankston, Footscray to Doncaster — if your gym is in Melbourne, we can clean it. Contact us to confirm availability for your specific suburb or postcode.
Can I bundle equipment cleaning with other services?
Absolutely — and most of our clients do. A full facility program combining daily equipment cleaning, locker room and shower cleaning, gym floor maintenance, and any studio cleans is available as a single bundled package at a reduced per-service rate compared to booking each individually. Ask us about full facility programs when you book your free site assessment.
